Welcome to Rosanne’s urban farm. Her husband’s winter COVID hobby was growing plants from seeds in the basement. Over 50 of them. Tomatoes, peppers, parsley, and basil. Many of these plants ended up in bare garden spaces with homemade supports made from scrap lumber from their recently completed addition.

Ongoing, through September 12 Picturing the Prairie — Painting Exhibit at The Chicago Botanic Garden

This exhibit celebrates the rich aesthetics, ecology, and history of Illinois prairies in an exhibition that features breathtaking landscapes flawlessly captured in art by Philip Juras. Many of the prairie scenes depict areas around Barrington! Also, in a fun fact, Ceil Bouchet knows the painter, Philip Juras, because he is a good friend of her college roommate. Lovely, intensely thoughtful man who has always been personally invested in preserving our natural environment. Part of his commitment is that he bikes everywhere he can. In fact, he cycled all the way from Germany down to Italy to visit her when she was an expat in the Piedmont region right after college!
